The Guy in the Glass

When you get what you want in your struggle for pelf (wealth),
And the world makes you King for a day,
Then go to the mirror and look at yourself,
And see what that guy has to say.

For it isn't your Father, or Mother, or Wife,
Who judgement upon you must pass.
The feller whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the guy staring back from the glass.

He's the feller to please, never mind all the rest,
For he's with you clear up to the end,
And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the guy in the glass is your friend.

You may be like Jack Horner and "chisel" a plum,
And think you're a wonderful guy,
But the man in the glass says you're only a bum
If you can't look him straight in the eye.

You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years,
And get pats on the back as you pass,
But your final reward will be heartaches and tears
If you've cheated the guy in the glass.

P.S. E adevarat ca ceilalti pot fi o oglinda foarte buna a noastra. Insa cea mai importanta parere din viata noastra este ceea ce credem noi despre noi. Fiindca, teoretic, noi stim mai bine cine suntem si daca vrem sa fim vazuti asa sau altfel sau, si mai important, daca vrem sa ramanem asa sau nu. Indiferent daca ne place sau nu de cel pe care il vedem in oglinda, el ne reprezinta. Daca ne place, e bine sa ne intrebam de ce si sa vedem daca e justificata atitudinea. Daca nu ne place, trebuie sa aplicam aceeasi procedura de investigare a corectitudinii atitudinii. Uneori, am impresia ca nici in oglinda nu stim sa ne uitam veritabil. Suntem contaminati fie de parerile celorlalti fie de ambitiile noastre care se potrivesc mai mult sau mai putin cu imaginea reflectata. Cert este ca ne ia mult timp sa ne cunoastem si mai ales sa ne acceptam. Va doresc curaj in acceptarea adevarului despre voi si perseverenta in drumul spre voi, cei adevarati, orice ar inseamna asta. In fond, sa nu uitam, nu suntem Dumnezeu. Desi ne ramane intotdeauna optiunea de a fi ingeri.
